The company, once focused on leasing information technology (IT) and telecommunications equipment, has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It plans to sell off all remaining assets by 2005 to settle debt with its creditors. The company had been shifting its focus toward its IT services business, a leading provider of disaster recovery services, but it sold the unit instead. Relatives of company founder Kenneth Pontikes own about 15% of Comdisco through family trusts, which are controlled by former CEO Nicholas Pontikes, son of the founder.
