- Description: Originally chartered in 1917 as the Floyd County Chapter and renamed the Northwest Georgia Chapter in 2010 when we combined with the Dalton/Whitfield Chapter and the Murray County Chapter, we have grown to serve 14 counties with a population of approximately 800,000 people. Today, the Northwest Georgia Chapter is hard at work in our community – every day – bringing help and hope to neighbors in need. With the same passion and commitment of our volunteer founders, we’re empowering a new generation to prevent, prepare for and cope with emergencies that devastate homes, threaten lives and separate loved ones. The Red Cross is a non-profit organization, not a government agency. Our work is made possible through the generosity of supporters, including volunteers, donors, emergency partners and community friends. The 14 counties we serve include: Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Union, Walker and Whitfield Counties.
